EXPERTUNITY WAS FOUNDED ON THE BELIEF THAT NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU ARE, YOU CAN ALWAYS BE BETTER.

After decades of working in training and development, Alistair Gordon and Dominic Johnson noticed a growing number of recognised experts seemed to be stuck in a rut, despite their obvious skill sets. A familiar story emerged, across organisations of all types and sizes.

Experts deepened their knowledge through years of dedication and commitment, attending course after course on their subject matter, and eventually Leadership training was introduced to help further their careers. In the majority of cases, it simply didn’t work, and our research told us Leadership courses were a waste of time.

Knowing this not to be true, we delved into the research again and discovered the truism hiding in plain sight.

“Leadership training is good for those who aspire to become leaders.
And the majority of experts we spoke to, just wanted to be better at their jobs – not get a new one.”

They didn’t want to manage or lead people, they wanted to learn more, be more effective and influential, adding greater value to the organisation.

Eventually the concept of Expertship emerged, and in 2016 a model was created, tried and tested, and after years of running courses to develop the Expertship skills of individual contributors, we decided to launch Expertunity.
