Experts are extremely good at what they do. They’re smart, switched on and know more about their subject matter than anyone else. That’s why you hired them, and it’s also why, sometimes, they’re not easily ‘managed’.
What they’re not so good at, generally, are skills such as stakeholder engagement, influencing, business acumen and being aware of their own personal impact. This course will help you develop these skills in your team, leading to a more harmonious, productive and satisfying work relationship for everyone.
You’ll be introduced to, and become familiar with the Expertship Model, which is central to the development of experts, and you’ll learn how to help your team members develop the skills they need to become more effective.
Many leaders take this for granted, but taking a proper brief that really understands the clients’ needs is a skill that experts don’t often have. Also, how to manage expectations and ensure that the client is responsible for the outcomes as directed.
You’ll learn how to demonstrate communicating with impact, how to prepare for confident challenging conversations and how to assess the motivations of others.
You’ll also learn how to teach your team to create stakeholder heat maps & audits, before aligning competing priorities and stakeholders.
